People are quick to express an opinion about things they do not understand. These utterances in themselves would not be so bad, were it not for the fact that they so often become widespread and then suddenly stand there as a firm judgment that is accepted by many intellectual circles as definite knowledge.
 
It is then simply there, holding on with a striking tenacity, yet no one knows how it came to be.
 
How often do the frivolous statements also cause great harm. But people are not bothered by this, they go on babbling because they like it that way. They chatter incessantly, in obstinacy, in defiance, frivolity, thoughtlessness, to pass the time, not infrequently also out of an addiction to be heard, or or deliberately out of malicious intent. There is always an evil reason to be found. There are only a few people who really indulge in this devastating bad habit just for the pleasure of chatting.
 
This chattering epidemic, too, has only arisen as a consequence of the corrosive dominance of the intellect. Much talking, however, suppresses the purer ability to intuit, which demands more deepening in oneself!
 
It is not without reason that a chatterer enjoys no confidence, even if he is harmless, but only one who can keep silent. There is so much in the nervousness and timidity towards chatterers that every man should become attentive in order to learn lessons from it for his own intercourse with his neighbour.
 
But chatterers in the truest sense are above all those who are so quick with words when it is a matter of things they do not understand.
 
In their recklessness, these are pests that cause a great deal of mischief and unspeakable suffering.
 
Let us take just one case. There are very often reports in the newspapers about so-called hauntings that suddenly appear in houses where nothing like this has ever happened before. Objects are moved or lifted up, pots are thrown and similar things.
 
Such news comes from different regions and countries. In all cases, the events always revolve around a specific person.
 
Where this person shows up, the events become apparent.
 
Immediately the opinion is expressed here and there that such a person must be “possessed”. Something else is not even thought of, but simply thoughtlessly and unscrupulously spoken of being possessed.
 
Authorities and churches were often consulted in the various countries, and when it was determined that there was no fraud on any side, then here and there church demon exorcisms were also carried out. But these cannot help much because they are contrary to the facts.
 
In the past, such a person, usually children or young girls, would have been subjected to a witch’s interrogation of the most embarrassing kind, until the tortured person explained everything as the judges and servants of the church wanted it. Then, as a disgusting spectacle, the last thing was done to rid the devout humanity of this martyred person through her death by fire.
 
In reality, however, all this only happened in order to indulge in a sacrilegious addiction to earthly power and to maintain a strong influence on the people, who were so childish believers at the time, which thereby expanded more and more. The reason for this was not pure conviction that they were serving God! This blasphemous activity only gave rise to fear of man, which suppressed all trust in God, and gave free rein to the vice of the lowest slander.
 
In any case, the bleak end was always foreseeable with certainty from the beginning, and all the recklessly accused could have been murdered immediately without further ado. The guilt of the murderers would thus have been even less than the guilt of the brutes in god’s clothing and judges’ robes of the time.
 
I do not want to draw comparisons from the old time to today, nor do I want to build bridges by special explanations, but spiritually the process through thoughtless talking is still exactly the same! It is only the earthly gross material now weakened by the newer laws. Nevertheless, ignorant men still think wrongly in this direction and would act accordingly if the laws did not prevent it.
 
In the lower Negro tribes, such people are still superstitiously persecuted, killed or even... worshipped. The two opposites have always been found very close together in human behaviour.
 
And with the lower and ignorant tribes of peoples, their sorcerers come to banish such evil spirits from the hut by tormenting the “possessed” in their own way.
 
We find similarities in things all over the earth, among all peoples. Facts that I only mention for a better understanding.
 
But the people who are regarded as “possessed” in this way are completely blameless in all these cases! There is no trace of possession, still less of the demons that one tries to exorcise in the process. All this is just childish gossip and medieval superstition, as remnants from the witchcraft era. In reality, only those who want to help in ignorance on the basis of wrong views and frivolous assessments are guilty.
 
Possessed people are found in the asylums, more than people realize. And these are to be cured! They will also be healed in the kingdom of the thousand years.
 
Today, however, these unfortunate people are simply regarded as insane and no distinction is made between the truly sick and the possessed, because they do not yet understand anything about it.
 
The lack of understanding in this comes solely from ignorance of Creation. The knowledge of Creation is missing, which can provide the basis for recognizing all processes and changes in and around human beings, thus leading to true knowledge, to that future science which does not need to grope around with pitiful attempts in order to arrive at a theory, which in many cases proves to be wrong again and again after decades.
 
Learn to know Creation with the laws at work in it, human beings, and you will no longer need to grope and search; for you will then have everything you need to help you in the occurrences during your being on Earth, and also far beyond, in your whole being!
 
Then there will no longer be so-called scientists, but they will have become knowers, who cannot encounter anything in the being of human beings that is foreign to them.
 
A surprisingly large proportion of those who today are described as incurably insane and who have to spend their lives locked up in asylums are not insane, but possessed. It is here, as it is in so many things: one does not seek it in this, and therefore one can find nothing, in the effect of Christ's Word, which clearly conditions and demands without any doubt: Seek and ye shall find!
 
This Word of Truth is to be applied to everything in life! In every form. That is why I have already pointed out several times that only the person who seriously seeks values in my Message will find them!
 
No other; for the Living Word only gives when serious searching from the soul touches it. Only then does It open up in rich abundance. –
 
The word “possessed” is indeed heard and found up to now, and still today, only where it is out of the question!
 
And where it is appropriate, no one thinks about it.
 
But here, too, the coined expression in the word of men has unintentionally already hit the right spot; for you find many in the asylums of whom it is said with a shrug: “He otherwise shows himself normal and is only possessed by a fixed idea!”
 
Here again, people unintentionally hit upon what is right, but without thinking about it further themselves.
 
But not only this kind are to be called possessed, but also those who not only have a fixed idea and so-called lucid hours or moments, but talk insane constantly, can be possessed. They are not always in reality ill. –
 
But let us now take as an example one of the many cases where a young girl is regarded by those around her as possessed, or at least suspected, because suddenly such strange things occur in her presence, the cause of which is not known.
 
There are many possible explanations that correspond to reality, but none of them is consistent with possession.
 
A human spirit in the house in question can be earthbound by something, for in all cases it can only be a matter of human spirits separated from the earth. Demons or the like do not come into consideration at all.
 
Such a human spirit is perhaps bound to the house by some deed or even only to the place, to the spot. It does not necessarily have to have done something while the house is there, but it can also have been there before, on the spot or near it, where the house now stands.
 
Sometimes this spirit has already been bound for decades or centuries by a murder or by some serious negligence, by harming another person, as well as by other incidents, of which there are so many to bind.
 
So he does not necessarily have to be connected with the people now living in the house. In spite of his permanent presence in the house, he has in any case never before had the possibility of making himself felt in a gross, earthly way, which only happens now through the girl in her special, but also only current peculiarity.
 
This peculiarity of the girl is a thing in itself, which only gives the spirit the opportunity for a certain kind of coarsening of its will. Otherwise it has nothing to do with the spirit.
 
The reason for this peculiarity lies in the respective radiation of the blood, as soon as this has a quite specific composition. From this the human spirit, without a coarse material earthly covering, takes the strength to carry out its wishes to make itself felt, which often develop into annoying mischief.
 
Every human being has different blood radiations, as I have already pointed out, and this composition changes several times during life on earth, which also means that the type of radiation of this blood always changes. For this reason the peculiar effect of some people in triggering the strange happenings is also in most cases only for a very definite time, that is, temporary. There is almost not a single case where it lasts the whole time on Earth. Sometimes it lasts only weeks or months, rarely years.
 
If, therefore, such an occurrence suddenly ceases, this is no proof that the spirit in question is then no longer present or detached, but in most cases it has only suddenly ceased to have any possibility of making itself so grossly felt.
 
It has therefore by no means been “exorcised” or disappeared, just as it can also have been confined to the place for a long time before without being noticed by people. Otherwise he remains just as unnoticeable to people as their permanent spiritual surroundings. In reality, they are never alone.
 
With this I gave the consideration first to a possibility, whereby it is a spirit confined to the place.
 
But it can also be a human spirit which is chained to a person living in the house by some process, which have already been mentioned so often in my Message. It need not be the child, whose blood composition temporarily gives it the possibility of earthly-visible activity. The actual cause can also be the father, the mother, brother, sister, or any other person who lives in the same house or who only goes in and out of it.
 
And in this again there is another difference; for a guilt for this can cling to the already departed human spirit, but just as well to one of the persons living in the house, from this present earthly existence or a previous one.
 
There are so many probabilities, and they are also so varied, that one cannot give a fixed form to them at all without running the risk of provoking and supporting wrong thinking in people and a hasty, ill-considered judgment in the individual cases.
 
I only mention all these possibilities of reasons to show the many-sidedness in them, and thereby to warn that one must not be so quick with a frivolous expression; for thereby a suspicion is often expressed which is not justified.
 
Therefore, be careful with your speech in things you do not understand! You bear full responsibility for it and perhaps also bind yourselves with one word for years and decades! –
 
In such an incident the spirit in question may have been evil and bound through a fault. He does not change so easily and will express his hatred for people of his kind if he receives the strength for earthly, coarse material execution from somewhere. Or he himself was the injured party and attaches himself spiritually to the person who once injured him and now lives in the house. In all cases, however, he binds himself again and again with such ill-willed and disturbing actions and only entangles himself still more, whereas with good will he could break away and ascend. Such a raging spirit always harms itself the most.
 
The human being, however, who temporarily gives the opportunity for this through his blood emanation, does not need to stand in any connection with such a matter. Of course, it is possible that he is connected with it through a previous guilt or, conversely, that the spirit is bound to him. All this is not impossible. But possession is definitely out of the question!
 
If a man were possessed by another spirit, that is to say, if an alien spirit were to use the body which does not belong to him, either temporarily or always, for earthly gross material executions, then this earthly body concerned would itself have to carry out everything that happened, that is, the throwing, beating, scratching and destroying, or however it now manifests itself.
 
As soon as someone is possessed, the foreign spirit in question always works directly through the earthly body with which it could connect, of which it has partially taken possession and which it uses for its purposes. The expression ‘possessed’ originated from this, because an alien spirit takes possession of the body of an earthly human being, takes possession of it in order to be able to work with it in an earthly gross material way. He takes possession of the earthly body that is foreign to him. And this body is then “possessed” by him, or we can also say “taken”. He sits down in it, possesses it or has possessed it for a time.
 
It is quite natural that the process of taking possession takes place primarily in the brains. Such earthly people to whom it happens are then called mentally abnormal or insane, because often two different human spirits fight and struggle over the use of the brains.
 
Thoughts and words and deeds are expressed that contradict each other, often in a confused sequence and incomprehensible confusion, because there are two different spirits trying to impose their will. The rightful owner and the intruder. Of course, this also causes an overstraining of the brain nerves, which are literally shaken and jolted, and man, seen from the outside, is therefore only able to detect brain confusion, although the brain itself can otherwise be quite healthy. Only the struggle and conflict of the two different spirits expresses what is confused.
 
It also happens here and there that the alien human spirit that forcibly takes possession of an earthly body not only makes full use of the brain, but carries the insolence even further and also subjugates other parts of the body for itself and its own purposes, yes, forces out that soul which is the rightful owner of the body, except for a small part which it cannot rob if the life of this body itself is not to be endangered.
 
In such severe cases, it happens that the double lives of a person often mentioned in reports occur, which gave scholars many a headache and could even drive afflicted persons to suicide out of despair over their condition.
 
But these processes also find explanation according to the Law of Creation. They are always strictly bound to very specific preconditions which must first be present on both sides. The human being is not simply abandoned to the intrusion of an alien spirit.
 
Thus, for example, the spirit of such a person whose body offers the possibility of such exploitation by a foreign spirit and also more or less abandons him to it, will always be indolent or weak; for otherwise his own natural defence against it would have to remain strong enough to prevent it.
 
Indolence or weakness of the spirit is always self-inflicted, but cannot be recognized by mankind. The condition is again a consequence of the dominion of the intellect, which confines and walls up the spirit, suppresses it. Thus the consequence of original sin, which I described in detail in my Message with all its evil effects, which also include the possibility of becoming possessed.
 
A person with a tired spirit, however, can be exceptionally lively in thinking, as well as in learning, because spiritual indolence has nothing at all to do with sharpness of intellect, as the readers of my Message know.
 
After all, the spirit of eminent scholars is often particularly strongly earthbound and constricted. As a suitable expression for this, one could use the word “spiritually lame”, because it forms the concept best. The spirit of many a great intellectual is in reality already slumbering towards spiritual death, while the person in question is especially honoured on earth as a luminary among men.
 
So a person affected in this way can be exceptionally fresh in intellect and clever, and yet have a tired spirit which allows its earthly body to be partly disputed by another, bodiless human spirit.
 
Therefore, you human beings, become more knowledgeable in God’s Primordial Laws of Creation, and you can avert much harm from yourselves! Tear yourselves away from your empty conceit of knowledge, which only brings piecemeal results, hardly to be used in the smallest adversity.
 
Today’s science lacks the knowledge to recognize these things, for what science teaches and wants to know to this day only clearly proves that it does not actually know anything about Creation. It lacks any great coherence and thus also the actual picture of the real events. It is only short-sighted, narrow-minded, and passed by all great truths. But it is the turning point of a new age, which will also make everything in it arise anew! –
 
So a child or adult is not always to be suspected when he triggers things such as rumbling or the throwing of gross objects. The ground for such causes is so varied that a determination can only be made in each case individually and on the spot by those who are really knowledgeable.
 
What has been said here is far from exhausting all the possibilities, but one thing is certain: possession is out of the question!
 
In people who make such effects of a foreign, earth-bound spirit possible by the temporary radiation of their blood, twitching of the body can naturally occur during such processes, fever symptoms, even unconsciousness.
 
But all this only comes about because the alien human spirit snatches the radiations that help it, literally pulls them away from the earthly body by force and therefore causes disturbances in the harmony of the body’s normal radiations, which of course immediately makes itself felt in this body.
 
But these are all very simple processes that can easily be justified logically through good observation, as soon as one knows the right connections.
 
Useless chatter and conjecture about it serve no purpose, they can only bring harm to one person or another who is not connected to the whole thing at all.
 
Beware therefore of your words, human beings! For these too must drag you down, because everything unnecessary is disturbing in Creation, and everything disturbing sinks downwards according to the Law of Gravity!
 
But if you speak truthfully and well, you will further yourself and become lighter and uplifted in the light of your words, because threads also run and weave in them, as in your thinking and in your doing. And then, when you no longer want to speak anything useless, you will become more silent, more reserved, with which powers will be stored up in you, which I have already named the power of silence!
 
It will become natural to you as soon as you only want to speak what is useful, as man should always have done since the beginning. Then he will hardly fill the third part of the time with his speeches, which he still uses for this purpose today.
 
But unfortunately he prefers frivolous speech to noble silence, and thus allows himself to be drawn down more and more according to the Law of Gravity, which presses down the unnecessary in Creation and lets it sink as useless.
 
Therefore, men, guard of your words, do not take the evil of thoughtless chattering too lightly! One day you will regret it bitterly.
